Some of Other Activities

Lectures

The Club has been organising lectures since its foundation, with a frequency of 1-2 occasions per month. The topic comes mainly from natural history and its interdisciplinary sciences.

Excursions

We organise one-day trips as well as even longer camps. Participants can recognize the lands, surroundings of Hungary and the Carpathian Basin. They can get familiar connection with the characteristic creatures and habitats of these vicinities. We visit Hungarian National Parks and other protected areas to admire their natural and cultural values. Some examples from our past excursions: exploring the populations of the pasque-flower (Pulsatilla grandis) near Budapest; search for an enigmatic moth species around the city; observation of overwintering bird species at the Danube. One of our traditional camps is held in Southern Hungary to observe the autumn migration of the European crane (Grus grus).

Visits

We often visit the temporary or permanent exhibitions of the Hungarian Natural History Museum. The professional guide provides that participants can learn much more than an ordinary visitor. Our contact with the Museum makes the possibility to see the research collections of that institution, to get knowledge on the work of a scientist.
